Tainted Brush (Socks CDLXIX)

The ring was dried on a towel, and set next to the sink. The lights went out as the man walked out. Snoring could be heard presently.
Daylight came. A woman picked up the ring and put it on, "Nice."
After showering she stood in front of the mirror running a comb through her hair. She opened the medicine cabinet, and took out a toothbrush. She ran the brush under the water, but she stopped before applying toothpaste.
She looked closely at the bristles, shut the water off, and left. The bed contained a long, snorting lump under the sheet.

Clean Up (Socks CDLXVIII)

The man holding the ring took a cigarette pack from his shirt pocket, shook two cigarettes up, and offered one. The other man took it. The ring went into the shirt pocket with the pack on top.
The two men talked and puffed a while.
"Well, it's late. I'm going to close up and go home."
"Yea, I better get going too," then he muttered, "What have I done? I gotta go." The van started and moved away quickly.
The ring came out of the pocket. The man held it under warm running water, and scrubbed it with a toothbrush.

Re-fence (Socks CDLXVII)

He lifted the handle, but nothing happened. He tapped the ring on the window. The car roared, the tires squealed, and the car sped away.
The man hurried to the van. It stalled.
"Forget it." The van started, and the man drove.
Soon, the same man that bought the TV said, "I can only give you five bucks."
"Five bucks?"
"Yea, I'm gonna have to clean the blood and skin out of this ring. From that cut on your cheek, I'd say it was yours. By the way, where's your brother?"
"Don't worry about it. Give me the money."
"Here."

Red Light (Socks CDLXVI)

"Give me the keys."
"What?"
"Wake up. Give me the keys."
A large man walked up, "You guys are gonna pay for this."
"He'll pay. He started it."
He reached into the down man's pocket, taking the keys.
One more kick to the ribs, "And one to grow on."
Back in the van, the lone man drove. Within minutes he laid on the horn. Rolling the window down, "It's green already. Go, will ya?"
An unintelligible voice returned.
The man opened the door, got out, and walked toward a car, "Hey #$$&*@%. Did you say something about my mother? "

TKO (Socks CDLXV)

One man accused the other of cheating.
"It's a friendly game.
"As long as you win it's friendly."
"You won at least two games tonight."
The hand with the ring swung the cue stick at the other man. He blocked it with his arm, breaking the stick. Now fists were flying, tables were knocked over, people were moving out of the way. The man wearing the ring tripped over a chair, knocking his head against a table. He went limp. The other man took the necklace, took the ring, put them both on, then kicked his adversary in the ribs.

Fenced (Socks CDLXIV)

The man drove the van for a while, and when it stopped a third man was there. All of the objects were removed from the van, and money exchanged hands. The two got back in and drove away.
"I think we made a good haul."
"Let's go to Sid's and divvy up."
The men walked into a dimly lit room, loud music played.
"Hey, the tables open. I'll rack."
Soon the men were playing pool and drinking beer.
After several games and several beers, "You nudged the cue ball."
"No I didn't."
"I saw it move."
The men started shouting.

Purloined (Socks CDLXIII)

So it was, after the ruby was replace with the emerald the ring stayed in the jewelry box with the other necklaces, bracelets, and rings more and more.
One day the box opened. A man the ring had never seen before took out a gold chain, and put it on his neck, then he put the ring on his little finger.
The jewelry box was carried to a van outside. Two TVs, a shotgun, and a laptop were just some of the objects from the house that were also in the van. Another man got in the van carrying silverware
