Rough Hands (Socks LXXXVIII)

Lar and Rar could hear noises outside the drawer. The drawer opened. Rough hands picked them up, inspected them, rubbed each ones toes, as if fumbling. That didn't feel so great.
The man mumbled, "Not bad. Finally, she didn't screw something up."
He tossed the boys on the bed, pulled out his cell, and punched numbers.
"Want to go have a beer?"
*
"No, she works till eleven. She left a note."
He talked for a few more minutes, and put the cell away.
Next he took off his shirt, leaving it a crumpled heap at the foot of the bed.
