"Listen," Mom said.
"She's listening," Dick said.
"Try again."
"Hello."
Mom just stood still, quietly looking around the room.
"Hey."
Each object, in turn, tried to get Mom's attention.
"Over here."
The lamp spoke up, "Bring Verde back, please."
Mom slowly moved about the room, stepping as lightly as possible, stopping frequently and looking around.
"Listen to me, you fixed my toe."
"Listen to me. I'm a winner."
"Listen to me, I'm worth five."
"Let's work together. She listened when we all laughed or cheered," said Dick.
"Everybody yell, on three. Ready?
"Why can't we go on five?" Nick asked.
